originating from europe, juniper is a small shrub with aromatic berries found in the wild on many continents, in mid- to high-mountain regions. there are more than sixty species, with some reaching five to six meters high in the rièges woods in camargue. its name comes from the celtic words gen (“bush”) and prus (“acrid”), referring to the taste of its berries.
